 For those of you who know about the disputed islands (Diaoyu (Chinese name) or Senkaku (Japanese name) islands), China and Japan both have interests on those islands because they show potential in oil reserves.  That is one reason why they have a bad relationship.  The other more serious reason is when  Japan colonized parts of China during WWII and committed really nasty atrocities.  So any talking that involves some solidarity or agreement is very progressive.

The Chinese government has some good news for panda lovers.

A new survey by China’s State Forestry Administration indicates that the wild giant panda population has grown to 1,864, representing an increase of 268 pandas since 2003. The number of giant pandas in captivity also doubled.

A special examination recently occurred in the Meander Medical Center. A nearly 1,000 year old mummy received a CT scan and had samples taken with an endoscope. Several hospital employees helped with this unique project in their free time.
